A VERY BIG THANKS to everyone who volunteered at this semester’s DHUMP Work Day, on Saturday, October 17. Here are just some of the exciting activities undertaken by those who came:
– Refilled sand boxes
– Spread new mulch in the playgrounds and in the picnic area
– Dug out the playground gate and installed a step
– Raked leaves
– Pruned trees
– Tidied up garden area
– Installed smoke alarms
– Fixed and replaced swings
– Drank coffee (thanks Starbucks L5P!) and ate donuts
– Enjoyed each other’s company on a lovely Fall morning!
I would particularly like to thank all the teachers who volunteered their time, and Norris Nelson, whose help with recruitment and advertising (and purchasing of donuts) was invaluable.
If you missed this semester’s fun, please do come out in the Spring!
All best wishes,

After many hours of deliberation we have decided to follow the Bad Weather Policy from our Parent Handbook which states that if both APS and Dekalb County Schools are closed we will close as well. Due to the number of teachers who have contacted me in regard to weather damage at their homes, travel conditions to work, and hauling their school age children with them, we have elected to close the preschool tomorrow. We appreciate your understanding and anticipate resuming normal hours on Wednesday, pending further weather updates.
BAD WEATHER POLICY
We will follow school closings in both Atlanta City and Dekalb County school systems.
If both school systems are closed, Druid Hills UM Preschool will be closed as well. If, however,
only one school system closes, we will make a decision about preschool closings based on the
conditions at the Druid Hills UM Preschool. As always, you must make a personal choice based
on travel conditions from your home to the preschool.

10:00- 10:45 a.m. MWF, M-F class groups

If you have special concerns that you would like to discuss with the teacher you should bring them up at Parent Orientation on Thursday evening, Sept. 3 or make arrangements through the preschool office for an alternative meeting time with your child’s teacher.
Tuesday, September 8th first day of school for T/Th and M-F classes
Wednesday, September 9th first day of school for MWF classes.
Your child’s September tuition payment is due the first week of school. You may utilize our online payment or mail your September payment to DHUMP, 1200 Ponce de Leon Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30306. Please make sure checks submitted by your bank’s online bill pay read DHUMP or Druid Hills UM Preschool.
